A day to remember

This card I made exclusively for the ColourQ challenge. Love all the colors here very much.
Used black for the card base and the turquoise color for the front and inside. I did manage to use all the colors on the palette!

Sponged Rainbow Kite

I love the sponging technique very much. I have made so many cards using this technique and still not getting tired of it. I had this crazy idea of sponging a rainbow kite, so I got onto my experiment. Just love this kite so much!
Added a string , and a very few embellishments here and there. kept it really simple as I wanted to highlight the rainbow kite here.

Fabric cut out card

This card is very close to my heart. A few years back, I used this  gorgeous and colorful fabric to make a dress for my darling daughter. I still have the left over bits and pieces of this fabric. I kept it thinking that it might be useful for something, making a card out of it was not even on my mind but here I am with a gorgeous card using this fabric. I just love these flowers!!

Get well soon ~ boy card

Continuing with masculine theme and, made this get well soon card for a boy. It took me more time to think than to make this card. I wanted to bring out an animated look for the card, since kids and animations go hand in hand.
Went through all my supplies and chose these little fishes to make the card.
I love to make these circle cut out cards, these cards can be finished in so many different ways.

Simple yet colorful look of this card for a boy!

New Colors

Finding supplies is a big challenge here in Macau, we get like nothing here...So most of the time, I need to think out of box or see how I can use the supplies which I find here for making cards.
Nevertheless, I still enjoy making cards regardless of the supplies. Every now and then I travel to Hong kong to get some supplies.
But most of the card stocks I buy here, and was lucky to find some new colors which will go really well with the masculine cards.
So next couple of days my focus will be on masculine cards only.

Chicken Tikka

Chicken Tikka is one of the most sought after dish. I myself have too many variations of this dish and I do make many other types of chicken tikka, which I will add slowly.

This dish can be grilled, barbequed or even pan-fried as per your convenience.
I grill it in my oven.

 Ingredients:

Cubed chicken fillet/breast(can use with bones too) - 500gms
Hung yoghurt - 2TBsp
ginger-garlic paste - 2tsp
Red chili power - 1/2 tsp
garam masala - 1/4 tsp
coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
cummin powder - 1tsp
orange food color as needed
mustard oil - 1 1/2TBsp
salt as per taste

Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients above except chicken in a bowl, add chicken to it and marinate in thr fridge for at least 2-3 hours.

Put in skewers and grill it on max for 10-12 minutes, turning the sides in between.

Serve it with a dash of lime, you can sprinkle some chat masala if you want.
That's it, this is how simple it is.

I hope you make and enjoy this simple yet mouth watering dish!

Vegetable Pulao ~ biryani

Vegetable pulao is one of the easiest way you can cook your rice to give a different taste and look. It is a my family recipe, which I have altered in a very small way to make it even better than the previous generations, to which my mom agrees too and she cooks in my way now.
In less than 30 minutes, you will be able to make a rice dish, which goes well with any curry, dal or raita (yogurt side dish).
Without any further delay, here is a step by step procedure.

Ingredients

NOTE : Please use only non sticky rice. I use Sona Masoori Rice. You can use basmati rice. And follow the amount of water needed, which may vary from rice to rice. This dish will not come out as desired if used glutenous rice.

Washed
and soaked rice - 2 cups
water - 31/2 cup(since the rice is soaked, you may want to cut down the water by 1/4 cup to keep the texture fluffy and grainy)
Medium sized onion - 1
slit green chili -1
Mixed veggies  - 1 cup(Peas, french beans, carrots)
Mint leaves - 7-8
Cinnamon stick - 1"
Cloves -2
Bay leaf -1-2
Black cardamom -1
Green cardamom - 1
caraway seeds - 1/4tsp(optional)
ginger-garlic paste -1 1/2 tsp
coriander powder - 1/2tsp
garam masala - 1/4 tsp
chili powder - 1/8tsp
salt to taste
oil - 2TBsp
fresh coriander leaves

Procedure

Wash and soak the rice, for a minimum of 30 minutes before you start cooking it.

Heat oil in a medium sized pot(remember your rice will be double, so choose the pot appropriately).

Once oil is hot add the whole spices, which are Cinnamon stick, Cloves, Bay leaf, Black cardamom Green cardamom, and caraway seeds. fry the spices for about a minute ,and then add the onion and green chili and saute till the onions are light brown colored.then add the ginger-garlic paste, veggies, mint leaves, garam masala, coriander powder, red chili powder and salt. cook for 2-3 minutes
 .

Meanwhile drain the rice, and add it to the veggie mix and stir for 2-3 minute, taking care that you are not breaking the rice while doing so.
Now add the water and stir well and cover the pot and keep the flame to simmer or on the lower end. Stir once or twice maximum.
I am one of those people who don't like too much stirring the food. In my opinion, it disturbs the cooking process and sometimes we mash up whatever we are cooking. So I always ask not to stir too many times. Do it very gently with a light hand, as you do not want to break the rice.

Once all the water is absorbed in the rice, add the fresh coriander leaves and stir and cover till the rice is completely cooked. this will take further 3-4 minutes. The cooked rice will be soft and fluffy.
In total it should take you about 20-25 minutes for this dish to be cooked.
Serve it with any curry, veg or non-veg or raita.

Hope you cook and enjoy this dish!

The irresistible diagonal pattern

I was experimenting with the diagonal pattern, and loved it so much that I ended up making a bunch of cards.
Tried different types of pattern paper on various colored card stocks, but has kept the look really simple as I want to highlight the diagonal pattern in the background.

Made this card using a  purple card stock with a cream pattern paper,  used a paper lace to finish off the look.
The cards stock and Purple paper lace, I used for this card are few years old and I have a hard time getting rid of any craft supplies, so I keep most of them piled up, and go back every now and then to use those.

Entering the above card for the following challenge:

This one is with purple card stock and a shiny maroon paper, decided to add a black strip and a maroon beads string, love this finished card very much.

I love the colors of this card, white and blue compliment each other so well! Added a white daisy and a matching lace to finish off this card.
The above card is up for the challenge:

This card reminds me of Sakuras snowflakes!, used a light peach card stock and peach colored cherry blossoms punched out. Used glitter pen to finish the look of the flowers and added a silvery lace to finish off the card.

The whole bunch, was suppose to be 6 cards of 2 cards in each color, but my daughter got her hands on the missing peach colored one here and made a card. How can I say no to a budding talent!!

One Layer Sponged Card

Off lately I am working with flowers and flowers only. Sounds like the subconscious me is waiting for a warm and bright spring.
I am smitten by the sponging technique so much that I am still not getting bored of it after months.
Made this single layered card yesterday, sponged a butterfly and a couple of flowers and few leaves. Used a glitter pen to finish off the card. Added the sentiment on the card itself.

Spring colors

I am definitely waiting for spring, sat down with a green card stock, which I haven't used since Christmas and decided to go on with it.
I wanted to use the flower die cut along with the cut out cards stock. So this is what I had come up with. Used the felt leaves to complete the look.
Wanted to stamp a friendly sentiment for  friends, and I am sure this cheerful card is good enough to cheer up people in this gloomy cold weather.
Did a bit of sponging on the inside.

This card is up for the following challenge:

My inspiration is similar to Kerin Sylvester, I was inspired by the greenery and flowers in a garden.

Napkin fold card

Made this napkin fold card based on Valentines theme. Used pattern paper with hearts to decorate.
The main attraction of this card is the fold and the belly belt to hold the card together.
I had used two different types of the pattern paper to highlight the folds.
Very happy with the finished card.

My favorite Card!

I made couple of Valentines card, and this card is my favorite one. No regular colors like pink or red, instead used a dark brown card stock, punched a small heart, and finished it off with a nice sentiment. Loved the look so much that I decided not to add any further embellishments to the card. A perfect masculine card!
